Two Cocker Spaniel puppies stolen while their shocked owners looked on might be in the Swindon area.
Jane Mason, 60, was showing the puppies to people she thought were prospective buyers on June 19, but through a carefully constructed ruse the heartless thieves were able to drive away from her Surrey home with two of them in their car.
Desperate to get them back Jane posted on social media, where she discovered the culprits had stolen a Chihuahua from another dog owner a few days before.
Police have tracked down and arrested two of those responsible and reunited the Chihuahua with its owners, but Jane's two dogs, Kai and Jude, remain missing.
A sighting of them on the A420 between Shrivenham and Watchfield led to a huge community effort to find them, but they are still missing.
"Two young people came to view the three remaining spaniels, with their 'mum' in the car," said Jane, explaining what had happened at her Farnham home.
"They said they liked two but their mother needed to meet them. I said that they could bring her back anytime and they said that she was in the car. I said to invite her in, but they said she was disabled so I stupidly agreed to go with them to the car to show her.
"They passed one puppy through the window to her, and the girl went around the other side of the car to get in the front with the other.
"The mother asked to see the third and as I turned to call to my partner to bring him, she put the car into gear and drove off."
Jane managed to catch most of the incident on CCTV and was able to get pictures and the number plate from the car.
She shared the CCTV on social media hoping to get more information and her posts were shared tens of thousands of times.
"The police contacted me to say that two people had been arrested in connection with the theft but after searching a number of addresses had not been able to locate my puppies," she added.
"I have been beside myself with the worry of what was happening to the pups and how frightened they would be.
"I have spent a lot of time bringing the puppies up and grown very close to them hoping they all go to good homes, most of them have already. This despicable act has caused my family and I a lot of upset."
A spokesperson from Surrey Police said: "Officers have been busy investigating the thefts of three puppies that occurred over the weekend across the county, in two incidents that are believed to be linked.
A Chihuahua puppy was stolen from an address in Sunbury-on-Thames on Saturday and two cocker spaniel puppies were stolen from an address in Farnham on Sunday. It is believed the suspects feigned interest in buying the dogs, before fleeing the scene with them.
"Officers have been investigating extensively and successfully recovered the stolen Chihuahua puppy. Sadly, the two Cocker Spaniel puppies have not yet been located so we are now sharing their photos.
"A 39-year-old woman and a 17-year-old boy from Reading have been arrested in connection to the thefts."
"If you have seen the puppies, know where they are, or have any information, please contact us quoting PR/45220065005 via DM on social media or by calling 101."
