Swindon rail protesters gathered for the final day of the union strike today.
Swindon station was emptier than usual on Saturday as the final day of rail workers' strike hit.
GWR staff are among 40,000 members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union embroiled in a bitter row over pay, jobs and conditions.
The train operator says only 30 per cent of services will run on Saturday - the third day of strike action this week. Sunday is also likely to see a knock-on effect.
Because of this, Swindon Station has been unusually quiet during the days of the strikes.
Numbers from the Office of Road and Rail show that an estimated 651,000 passengers used Swindon's one station in 2020-21.
This means that an average of 1,783 travellers go through the station daily.
Because of this, it is unusual to see the station as empty as it has been this week.
Despite the mixed feedback RMT and the protesters have received from the public as well as the government, assistant general secretary of the union, Eddie Dempsey said he thinks "the public is behind us" and has revealed there are talks of another strike if they can't come to an agreement with the government.
