VANDALS have dug up and scattered decorative potted plants on two busy Worcester city centre streets.

New Street and Friar Street were both pictured with soil and plants scattered across both roads earlier this morning, as people walked through the city centre.

The pictures and footage were both taken at approximately 6am.

The plants were provided by Worcester BID, with help from Webbs Garden Centre.

A spokesperson for Worcester BID said: "Worcester BID provided 30 planters to New Street and Friar Street to bring greenery back into our city-centre streets.

"These planters were placed onto the streets with the help of Webbs Garden Centre at the end of May 2022.

"Since their placement, there has been fantastic feedback on how attractive the streets now look with the additional plants.

"It is sad to see that this investment in the city is being mistreated by a small minority. Worcester BID will be arranging the replanting of greenery in the affected planters to fix any damage. We hope they will be looking their best again shortly.”

A similar incident happened in Worcester last year, when new plants, put in place by Worcester City Council and Worcester BID, were pulled out and thrown across the pavement, with rubbish put into the displays.

The flower beds were surrounding the seating area in Angel Place.
