A 21-year-old man has suffered life-changing injuries after being attacked in a Swindon park this evening.

Police remain in the scene at Lawns Park - by The Planks in Old Town - where a cordon has been in place since around 5pm while they gather evidence.

The victim has since been taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford with serious injuries.

His injuries are said to be life-changing, but not life-threatening.

Nobody has been arrested in connection with the incident but enquires are ongoing.

In a statement tonight, Wiltshire Police, said: “Officers have currently cordoned off an area in The Planks, Old Town, following a serious assault earlier this evening (28/6).

"We were called shortly after 5pm following reports that a 21-year-old man had been assaulted.

"He has been taken to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford and his injuries are thought to be life-changing but not life-threatening.

"No arrests have been made in connection with this incident at this time but our enquiries are ongoing.

"Anyone with information should call us on 101 and quote log number 225 of today."
