A TEAM of Swindon Town Legends are going head-to-head with an all-star Swindon Supermarine side this Sunday in aid of the NSPCC.

The match will take place at Supermarine’s Webbswood Stadium, with a 3pm kick-off. Tickets are available on the day and priced at £5 for adults, while kids go free, with gates opening at 1pm.

Former star strikers Sam Parkin and Simon Cox are set to feature for the County Ground side and will line-up alongside the likes of Paul Caddis, Michael Doughty, Matthew Taylor, and Paul Bodin.

In addition to former players, comedian Ivo Graham and musician Grim Sickers will be pulling on the club’s red strip at the fundraiser.

Former Town player, manager and all-time appearance record holder John Trollope will also be in attendance, as will fan favourite Charlie Austin before he flies out to Australia.

This year marks the 125th anniversary for the NSPCC Swindon and North Wiltshire Fundraising Branch, as well as Swindon Supermarine’s 30th.

Alan Fletcher, chairman of the NSPCC branch and one of many event-organisers, said: “The NSPCC is deeply indebted to both clubs and of course their former players who are giving up their Sunday to raise much-needed funds for us.

“The last couple of years have been particularly difficult for the NSPCC but they are still here for children.”

Events like this are crucial to the NSPCC, as they rely heavily on donations to be able to provide vital services to children, young people, and their families.

NSPCC supporter fundraising manager, Henry Street said: “We’re really looking forward to Sunday for what should be an amazing match. We’ve got some great names lined up to play so it should be a very entertaining afternoon.

“The NSPCC’s Swindon and North Wiltshire Branch have worked tremendously hard to arrange the fixture and it’s been incredibly well supported by Town and Supermarine.

“All the funds raised on the day will go to support the vital services the NSPCC runs across Swindon.”
