Some Swindon businesses have made the decision to reduce their services or close completely for the next two days.

It comes as the Met Office has issued an amber warning for extreme heat in Swindon. A red weather warning is in place in other parts of the country.

Temperatures are expected to reach a sweltering 36 degrees in Swindon today.

Check out the list below of those who have taken measures for the hot weather:

  • Roves Farm - the popular destination will be closing its Visitor Centre and Cafe today and tomorrow. However, the Farm Shop and Butchery will remain open.
  • Galo Fine Foods (High Street, Wootton Bassett) - closed Monday to Wednesday.
  • The Tanning Room (North Swindon and West Swindon stores) - closed Saturday to Tuesday to protect staff, customers and equipment.
  • Paradise Pets Ltd (Manor Garden Centre) - the pet shop will not be selling live animals or birds and will be closing at midday today and tomorrow.
  • Jessica's Hair and Beauty (Tadpole Garden Village) - there will be no blowdrys for the first two days of this week in the salon. Staff have also announced that, if temperatures become extreme inside the salon, they may have to close the salon and reschedule appointments.
  • Ruby and Dexters (High Street, Royal Wootton Bassett) - grooming salon and shop closed today (Monday).

In a post, The Tanning Room staff said: "For the health and safety of our staff and customers and to protect our equipment we are planning to close from Saturday to Tuesday.

"This is not a decision we have made lightly and not something we want to do but feel we have no other choice.

"Anyone who has any bookings will be contacted and all appointments will be rebooked and moved to a convenient time on Wednesday."

In a post, the Ruby and Dexters staff said:

"Despite having a fully air conditioned grooming salon, it will be difficult to regulate the salon’s temperature if outside temperatures peak.

"We also need to think about the welfare of the dogs travelling to and from the salon, where temperatures are also more difficult to manage. If you have an appointment scheduled on Monday, your groomer will be in touch to reschedule.

"The shop will also be closed on Monday due to the additional heat which all of our freezers kick out during a heatwave to maintain a safe freezer temperature."
