A third of Chippenham’s petrol stations are out of action at the moment while rebuilding work goes on.

Two out of the town’s six filling stations have been razed to the ground.

Work on rebuilding the Tesco petrol station at Hungerdown Lane is expected to be completed by the end of September.

The Tesco store on the site remains open throughout the project.

Around a mile away, the Esso Rontec petrol station in Bath Road is also being rebuilt.

Wiltshire Council approved plans for the petrol station last October.

The work will create a larger shop, and replace the previous automatic car wash with a jet wash.

There are other petrol stations at Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, the Pheasant in Bath Road and off the A350 roundabout near the town’s golf course.
