12 pubs in South Swindon are in the running to be named the best in the area by local MP and residents.

Earlier this summer, MP Sir Robert Buckland announced his competition to find the best pub in South Swindon.

People were encouraged to shortlist their favourite pubs in June this year, and the list of finalists has now been announced.

The pubs in the running in the competition are:

  • The Windmill in Freshbrook
  • Fox and Hounds in Wroughton
  • The Runner, Wootton Bassett Road
  • The Glue Pot, Emlyn Square
  • Wheatsheaf, Old Town
  • The Kings, Old Town
  • The Liden Arms
  • Sun Inn, Marlborough Road, Coate
  • The Patriot's Arms, Chiseldon
  • The Plough on the Hill, Badbury
  • The Village Inn, Shaw
  • New Calley Arms, Wanborough

Sir Buckland is planning on visiting every one of these pubs this summer to better decide what the best pub is.

He first visited The Windmill in Freshbrook on Saturday.

The competition will run from Friday 22nd July until Friday 19th August.

You can vote on what you think the best pub is here.
