THE public can pop in and have a cuppa with Wiltshire Air Ambulance's crew at the airbase next month.

The invitation is part of National Air Ambulance Week and offers people a chance to learn more about the lifesaving work undertaken by the UK's 21 air ambulance charities.

It costs £4m a year to keep the Wiltshire helicopter flying and answering emergencies and it receives no direct funding from the Government or the National Lottery.

The tea party on September 7 runs from 11am to 1pm and costs £7.50 for adults or £4.50 for under 12s.

But anyone who wants to support the event but is unable to get there on the day is encouraged to gather their their crew of family, friends or work colleagues at any point during Air Ambulance Week, which runs until September 11 and host their own fundraiser.

Business development manager Katy Burke says: “This is a great opportunity for the community to get together with your local air ambulance.

“Join us for a brew and some cake at the airbase and meet our lifesaving aircrew, or help support our cause by hosting your own event by signing up for a free fundraising pack on our website.

“It’s a great way to celebrate National Air Ambulance Week 2022 and help support the charity’s lifesaving service.”
