A SWINDON-BASED business is backing a social enterprise scheme's fashion show fundraiser.

Intel is the main sponsor for the Platform Project's event which is being held at the MECA on September 23.

Intel were keen to be involved in the show, which has been created by the young people and staff at the project along with a team of volunteers.

The computer software firm's community engagement manager Darren Howell said: “Intel are proud to be supporting the Platform Project by sponsoring the upcoming Black Tie Fashion Show Fundraiser.

"The services provided by them in which to help develop confidence and employability skills within young people is vitally important. We’re looking forward to working alongside Sadie and her team on this event.”

By working closely with schools, colleges and universities locally and internationally, The Platform Project provides enterprise and employability-based workshops, training, and development programmes.

This is something Intel fully support themselves when it comes to their own internal teams and the opportunities they offer for young people.

The Platform Project has an 89 per cent success rate of the young people they work with going on to higher education, self-employment or paid work.

The upcoming fashion show is a chance for the young people to really showcase their skills at driving and executing a project with the help of the Platform’s team and several local business people who have volunteered their time to help.

Tjere will be food, VIP experiences, stall holders, a formal wear sale, auction, raffle, DJ and entertainment to create a night of fun, fashion and much-needed fundraising for the Project.

The Platform Project’s founder Sadie Sharp added: “We’re so pleased that Intel are on board with us a as main sponsors and I would like to say a huge thank you to them for supporting us.

"As a non-profit with a tiny team, its not always easy to pull something like this off! Having the support from one of Swindon’s largest companies means we can go ahead with the show and bring the community together to help support our young people in the town.

"The work we do is so important to them because we offer them a safe and confidence building space to help them achieve what they want out of life.”
