IT has been a journey that has so far seen him travel the world, win countless medals and become one of his home town's most famous sporting sons.

But as Jamie Cox prepares for his 100th bout, in the Cardiff International Arena on Saturday night, he has warned critics and fans alike you aint seen nothing yet'.

The 21-year-old Swindon southpaw has been boxing since the age of six and, from that youngster looking for a way to channel his high energy levels, he has transformed into one of the sport's most exciting young talents.

After a glittering amateur career which saw him visit 17 different countries, become Britain's light welterweight champion and which culminated in a Commonwealth Games gold medal in Melbourne - his first professional steps have been equally promising.

A 100 per cent record from his first four pro fights have set many tongues wagging and he is now bidding to mark his ton up in style and really prove he has adapted to the tougher world outside the amateurs.

He said: "Fighting my 100th fight in Cardiff on a world title bill is another special occasion in my career and I am determined to mark it in style.

"I want to put in a big performance and make it a night that I will remember for a long time. I am not going to be complacent but I do believe I am ready to produce a big performance.

"I can't wait for it to come now.

"The preparations have gone well, training up in Birmingham with Richie Woodhall and coming down to Paddy Fitzpatrick's Boxing Academy as well. I should be well prepared."

From his 99 fights so far, Cox - backed by George White Bikes - has only lost 16 and he is determined to keep that loss column down to the bare minimum.

"Thinking back to my first-ever fight as a youngster it is amazing how much I have learnt and how far I have come," he said.

"I want to just keep on improving now though. I love the game and want to get better.

"It is not a bad record and hopefully I can stay undefeated in the pros. I know that is not easy but it is my aim because I want to be competing for the main titles in the world in the future."

Cox will go head-to-head with journeyman welterweight David Kehoe on the undercard of Gavin Rees' world title defence on Saturday night - another big event in a memorable early career.

Cox said: "It has been a good journey so far. I have been to about 17 different countries and this will be just another experience in what has been an incredible career for me so far.

"To fight just before Joe Calzaghe has to be a highlight for me. There were over 60,000 people there and I was on just before the main bill."
