A brand-new store is set to arrive at the Designer Outlet Centre in West Swindon in time for Christmas.

Officials have confirmed that Carvela will open its doors to customers in the West Mall area next to Polo Ralph.

No date for the opening has been confirmed, but it is hoped that the store will be trading at some point in December, just in time for Christmas.

Carvela is a shoe retailer, that specialises in women’s accessories, footwear and classic clutch bags, with new pieces arriving each season.

The shop will replace one of the empty units in the shopping centre.

News of Carvela’s opening came as the Adver sat down with centre manager Tina Cumpstey.

Asked how she plans to deal with empty units, Tina said: “Before Christmas, we are opening Haribo which will be a fantastic opening for Swindon and Carvela a shoe retailer, they are absolutely confirmed.

“We are working on a number of deals that are coming through the pipeline.

“We lost some businesses during the pandemic, but we have a clear strategy to build back the brand mix and we work tirelessly to get the right brands into the centre.”

Tina then talked how the process of getting a new business into the outlet centre works.

She said: “It can be quite long-winded, we would start calling and talking to brands in terms of our target list.

“It might be a year or two before we land a brand and that’s them understanding the proposition.

"Ever since the Covid pandemic consumer behaviour has changed over the years.

“What we have seen is that there are less people shopping but those people who are coming in are being very targeted and are spending more.

“From our perspective, we’ve got to remain relevant, and we need to keep moving our experience forward, but we are cautiously optimistic about the future.

“We are very aware of what’s happening around us and we are aware of the value that we offer."

It comes weeks after it was announced that a Haribo store is set to open in another part of the building.

This will be the ninth brick-and-mortar branch for the popular sweets manufacturer which is loved by kids and grown-ups alike - and promises to include the biggest pick 'n' mix section of them all.

The shop will include Haribo and Maoam treats along with special Christmas goodies and exclusive merchandise.
