A TALENTED young artist from Swindon will have his artwork showcased in a town-wide trail of sculptures.

The Big Dog Art Trail will see 30 six-foot-tall balloon dogs popping up near Swindon’s landmarks and hotspots this summer in a one-of-a-kind event which aims to attract people to the borough and raise money for the Julia’s House children’s hospice charity.

The Swindon Advertiser is one of the local businesses which is backing the project and will have its own sculpture.

We asked our creative readers to send in possible designs for the fibreglass creation and have now picked a winner.

The 12-year-old said: "It's really cool, it feels like winning the golden ticket.

"I had this idea in my mind of a steampunk design, like Swindon's steam engines, and finished it in a couple of hours.

"It's cool to know that a bunch of people will be seeing it, taking photos and posing next to it, and it's a good way to promote my work.

"This could not have turned out better, it's exciting."

Morgan has already started making a name for himself as his artworks have received a lot of attention on social media, and he worked with mum Judy on a mural for his primary school, St Mary’s.

Judy added: “I have let Morgan’s old teachers know that he will be designing the Adver’s Big Dog and they are so proud!

“He has definitely left his legacy there. He was even asked to design icons for all the school subjects they have implemented into their school day."

The Big Dog Art Trail will run from July 15 to September 3 and end with a farewell weekend where all the Swindog sculptures will be brought together under one roof.

The unique creations will then head off to their forever homes after being adopted at a special auction.

Project manager Chris Hyde said: "The winning design from Morgan is just stunning and we can’t wait to see it come to life on one of our Swindogs, it is going to be an amazing addition to the trail in Swindon this summer and I’m sure it will do well in the auction in September.

"Congratulations Morgan, you’re very talented! I’d also like to say a big thank you to the Swindon Advertiser for coming on board as our media partner and running this fantastic competition for the younger readers of Swindon.”
