Great Western Railway were asked to verify a Tweet from the President of the United States in a bizarre Twitter interaction on Friday night.

Joe Biden, the 47th US President, tweeted that his administration had created more jobs in two years than any other president ever has in any four-year term.

This bold claim garnered thousands of responses, with one user asking for verification on the statistic, oddly tagging Swindon-based Great Western Railway’s @GWRHelp Twitter account in his response.

The tweeter was actually trying to consult Guinness World Records on the issue, but Great Western Railway’s media team saw the funny side, providing a response.

The reply Tweet from the railway service said: “Hi there, we are a train operating company from the UK, I don't think we are in a position to verify things the President of the United States says I'm afraid. – Kyle.”

Anand Rajakrishnan of Ontario, Toronto in Canada, was the man who asked for the verification and he also saw the funny side in Great Western Railway and Kyle’s response.

“This is going beyond proportion. I wanted to tag Guinness World Records @GWR to verify the content of a tweet,” he said.

“It was an honest mistake. Instead, Kyle took the spotlight.”

Joe Biden has not responded to the Adver’s request for comment so far.
