AN assault victim needed surgery after a brutal attack at Swindon's central bus station.
The offender approached a man in his 50s from behind on December 23 at around 11pm and pushed him to the floor.
He then repeatedly kicked and punched the victim, who was then rushed to hospital.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the serious assault and for help identifying people in newly-released CCTV images who may have seen what happened.
A spokesman said: "The attacker is described as wearing a black coat with a fur lined hood and a logo patch on the left arm.
"He was in the company of another male and a female.
"We are appealing for members of the public to help us identify the people in these CCTV images.
"Although the images are very blurred, we hope they may be recognised by anyone who knows them.
"Anyone with information should contact us on 101, quoting log 54220134486."
