Cadets from 1244 (Swindon) Squadron and 1244 (West Swindon) Detached Flight recently gave up their time to help with the battle against cancer.

Fourteen Cadets over the weekend helped with the Race For Life, a run of 5km for women to participate in and raise money as well as awareness for Cancer Research UK.

The Cadets over the weekend helped with the set up of the race which was held in the beautiful scenery of Lydiard Park in Swindon.

Cadets also helped out in the finish funnels, welcoming back the runners with a medal, a goody bag and a well deserved bottle of water.

After the event Natasha Russell, the Event Organser of Cancer Research UK, thanked the Cadets.

She said: "The cadets were brilliant, we could not have done it without their help".

Also several of the Cadets commented on how much fun they had.

Cadet Paul Davis added: "It was fantastic fun, great weather, and a fantastic cause which touches us all."

Over 4,00 ladies ran the race this year hoping to raise a massive £171,000 to Cancer Research.

The unit's commanding officer Flt Lt James Stevens said: "Cancer has touched us all from time to time whether it be a friend or family member.

"Helping out this weekend is showing our squadron's and our personal support for the fight against cancer and I was very proud of my cadets this weekend, they were fantastic."
