The latest designs for the regeneration of the historic Wadworth brewery have been revealed after a planning application was submitted.
Developers Backhouse confirmed they had lodged an application to transform the current brewery site on Northgate Street into a huge residential area last week.
Now the latest projections for the appearance of the proposed development, which will form the basis of the application submitted to Wiltshire Council, have been released.
The plans seek to build 102 new homes near the town centre, and include commercial and community facilities, public open spaces and pedestrian links.
Wadworth’s Grade II listed brewery tower will be excluded from the works.
The designs have been altered in appearance since they were first put forward last year, after undergoing a public consultation with locals.
Backhouse say the development will reinforce the town’s local identity and landmarks.
Architect David Anderson said: “Our proposals seek to build upon that heritage with confident new architecture expressing the warmth and rich detailing of the red brickwork to create a distinctive new neighbourhood.
“The proposed layout restores the medieval street pattern with a radial central route.
“Landscaped streets are designed as places for people in which cars are 'guests'. A new public space will act as a carefully designed focal point between the old brewery buildings and the beautiful new homes.”
