THAMESDOWN Transport will run a shuttle bus from Swindon Bus Station to the Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford this weekend.

Buses will leave Swindon from 7.30am on Saturday and Sunday and run every 20 minutes up to 12.30pm, the journey taking about 30 minutes.

Buses will leave Fairford from 2.30pm and run every 20 minutes until the last bus at 7pm.

The return fare will be £5 for adults and £2.50 children. Bus passes will not be valid.

The main routes for traffic on Saturday and Sunday are: RED ROUTE - Brings traffic from the northeast via Oxford, Burford and Lechlade along the A40 and A417, through Whelford to the Red Car Parks. During the in-bound phase, Whelford Road will carry a one way restriction order towards Kempsford from the Shell Garage junction to the junction with Horcott Road.

In order to streamline the exit phase and, more importantly, to provide a safety margin for pedestrians and cyclists, the one way order in Whelford Road will be reversed during the exit phase, only permitting travel away from the base.

This will be operational from a point near the Red Car Parks to the A417 Shell garage junction.

Residents requiring access to Whelford during this exit period should access via Horcott Road. There will be no access between Red Gates and Horcott Road from the Whelford direction.

BLUE ROUTE - Bringing traffic from the M4 Junction 15 and the South along the A419(T), exiting on to the C124 over-bridge signposted Fairford, and along the C124 towards Kempsford. Vehicles will be directed to the Blue Car Parks along Top Road. The exit route will be the reverse of entry.

BROWN ROUTE - As a pressure relief for the A419(T) east of Swindon, traffic from the west, south west and Bristol direction can be directed off the M4 at Junction 17, north towards Malmesbury and then north east through the Cotswold Water Park and the Spine Road junction before turning south again to rejoin the Blue route at the C124. Exit will be signed via Blue route.

GREEN ROUTE - Traffic on the A417 dual carriageway will exit near Cirencester at the Burford Road roundabout briefly on to the A429 before rejoining the A417 after the Cherry Tree Lane crossroads.

Vehicles will be directed through Meysey Hampton to the Green Car Parks on the edge of Marston Meysey.

In order to increase the vehicular flow rate during the exit phase, the main road between Marston Meysey and Meysey Hampton will be made one way, with traffic using both lanes towards Meysey Hampton.

This restriction will apply between the junction of The Street/Marston Meysey Lane and the junction with High Street, Meysey Hampton.
