Police have urged the public to remain vigilant while they probe two incidents of children being approached by an unknown man.
Detectives in Swindon are actively investigating two reported incidents in which school aged girls were allegedly approached by a man they didn’t know.
In both cases the girls reported that the man spoke to them, and there is no suggestion that either of them were physically harmed.
Multiple schools in the Ferndale Road area have warned parents of potential abduction concerns.
Police added that there have been no similar reported incidents.
Officers are working to establish if these incidents are linked and if any offences have been committed.
Patrols have also been carried out in the area following reports of suspicious behaviour.
In the meantime, residents have been advised to remain vigilant.
One of the detectives in the case, Det Sgt Emma Kinderman said: “We take such reports extremely seriously and understand the concern that reports of this nature can cause.
“However, we would urge people to avoid unhelpful speculation and jumping to conclusions.
“We would ask that members of the public should remain vigilant and report any similar concerns to us.”
Anybody with information regarding these incidents has been urged to call police on 101 quoting log 54230115639.
People should always call 999 in an emergency.
