The following cases were heard at Swindon Magistrates Court this week.

PARK SOUTH: Domink Pietka, of Royston Road, has been sentenced for three offences.

The 23-year-old admitted to going equipped for theft, theft, and driving without insurance.

On July 24, 2023, the defendant stole a fuel siphon from Lyneham Banks Garage and was caught with a crowbar, a battery-operated angle grinder, a box of latex gloves, and a fuel siphon while driving a Volkswagen Golf along the A3102 in Swindon on the same day.

He has been fined £120, given six penalty points on his driving licence, and ordered to pay £85 in court costs as well as comply with a community order requiring him to do 200 hours of unpaid work and attend up to 10 rehab activity days.

MOTORWAY: Sanaz Ahmed, of Bacton Street in Tower Hamlets, London, has been sentenced for speeding.

The 48-year-old was found guilty through single justice procedure of driving a BMW 420i along the M4 near Swindon at more than 70mph on October 15, 2022.

He received five penalty points on his driving licence and must pay a £200 fine as well as £300 in court costs plus £80 to fund victim services.

UPPER STRATTON: Mathew Gillard, of Haig Close, has been sentenced for common assault. 

The 29-year-old pleaded not guilty to the charge but was later found guilty of assaulting a woman in Swindon on April 23, 2023.

He must pay £300 in compensation to his victim as well as a £600 fine, £620 in court costs, and £240 to fund victim services.

ELDENE: Finely Sly, of Overbrook, and Jack Townsend, of Welcombe Avenue, have been sentenced for causing actual bodily harm to the same person.

The defendants indicated pleas of guilty to assaulting a man in Swindon on December 23, 2022, and have each been ordered to pay £100 in compensation to the victim along with a £500 fine and £200 to fund victim services.

Townsend must also pay £85 in court costs.

BADBURY: Patricia Topliss, of Badbury Lane, has been sentenced for driving a Land Rover Discovery without due care and attention.

The 62-year-old changed her plea to guilty regarding the offence, which took place near Lydiard Fields on Great Western Way on February 7, 2023.

She received three penalty points on her driving licence along with a £40 fine, and must also pay £85 in court costs plus £16 to fund victim services.

BLUNSDON: Jason Davey, of Exmouth Street, has pleaded guilty to criminal damage and possession of Class B drugs.

The 47-year-old indicated pleas of guilty to causing £100 of damage to a woman's window and having cannabis on him in Swindon on August 2, 2023.

The illegal substance has been forfeited and destroyed. The defendant must pay £100 in compensation along with fines totaling £120, £85 in court costs, and £48 to fund victim services.

PINEHURST: Clyde Busson, of Cherry Tree Grove, has been sentenced for possessing offensive weapons.

The 19-year-old pleaded guilty to having a knuckleduster in his bedroom and also having a flick knife in Swindon on October 23, 2023.

He has had the weapons taken away, been fined a total of £120, and ordered to pay £85 in court costs plus £48 to fund victim services.

CHIPPENHAM: Stanislaw Ozimek, of Charter Road, has been sentenced for drink driving.

The 36-year-old pleaded guilty to driving along New Road on October 21 after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in his breath, namely 100 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeded the prescribed limit.

He has been banned from driving for 24 months and ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work as well as pay £85 in court costs plus £114 to fund victim services.
