South Swindon Parish Council have issued a plea to residents as cooked food waste is being repeatedly dumped in a park.
Several members of the public reported spotting abandoned food waste and plastic containers scattered around the fields of GWR Park in recent weeks.
According to South Swindon Parish Council, who manage the park, this is a constant problem as food in containers is repeatedly thrown on the ground.
"It has come to our attention that someone has been repeatedly dumping cooked food waste in various areas of GWR Park," said a spokesperson for the parish council.
"This inconsiderate behaviour poses a health risk to both people and wildlife in the park."
South Swindon Parish Council is responsible for the management and upkeep of three parks in the town, including GWR Park, Queens Park and Old Town Gardens.
These parks are used to hold various events throughout the year, including Yoga in the Park and the Old Town Festival, and so the council say it is important they are kept as clean and welcoming as possible.
In October 2023, South Swindon earned a gold award in the Tesco Cup for South West In Bloom and is hoping to defend their title again this year.
"If you have any information about the person(s) involved in this illegal dumping, please contact us on social media or email us at admin@southswindon-pc.gov.uk," the parish council added.
