A Swindon man has been arrested on suspicion of rape.
Police took a 19-year-old man from the Swindon area into custody on Sunday.
This follows the beginning of an investigation into an alleged sexual assault which is said to have occurred in the town centre during the early hours of Saturday morning.
Wiltshire Police is appealing for witnesses who could help with their enquiries.
A spokesperson said: "Officers investigating an alleged sexual assault have arrested a 19-year-old man from the Swindon area on suspicion of rape.
"We would like to hear from anyone who was in Swindon Town Centre in the early hours of Saturday (08/09) who may have seen anything suspicious.
"Please call us on 101 quoting log 54240105861.
"Alternatively you can leave information anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555111."
Wiltshire Police confirmed that this follows officers blocking off part of the town centre on Saturday.
For several hours on September 7, officers cordoned off Queen Street, which connects Fleet Street and Carr Street, while investigating a report of a sexual assault that had reportedly happened earlier that same day.
Blue and white tape also blocked an alley between an audio equipment shop and a local restaurant.
