Travellers have set up camp near an iconic Swindon site.
Residents in West Swindon expressed concerns after seeing caravans park near the Spectrum building before the new arrivals were later moved off the premises and instead decided to settle next door near the old DSS House in Rivermead Industrial Estate.
Neighbours in Shaw have reported seeing a security company patrolling the area with guard dogs and hearing chainsaws and angle grinders being used by people near the caravans in the early hours of the morning.
The citizens claim that the police have been made aware of the Travellers trespassing on public land, though after being approached for comment, a spokesperson for the Wiltshire force said that nothing on their incident logs matched such a report.
Earlier this year, witnesses saw approximately 10 caravans and associated vehicles parks around the 40-hectare community woodland of Shaw Forest Park after someone had cut the lock to the main gate.
After spending a week in the public green space, the group moved on and reportedly left behind soiled nappies, used condoms and toilet paper, household waste, and rotting food which created an unpleasant smell.
Litter-pickers helped tidy up the mess.
