A Swindon town centre Indian restaurant and takeaway which has been closed for months is under new management.
Aby’s Indian Experience on Faringdon Road has been closed since the beginning of May, while multiple social media posts have promised the restaurant will be back open soon, despite never revealing a date.
One post on May 17 read: “Aby’s Indian Experience is temporarily closed, but don’t worry. We will be back serving up sizzling curries in no time.”
While the most recent post on July 5 advised customers they were closed for a “short while” and would be open “as soon as possible”, there have been no updates for the past two months.
This week a sign which read ‘under new management, opening soon…’ appeared in the window and their website is currently under maintenance, although no details about the new owners or their plans for the establishment have been revealed so far.
In 2022, the restaurant closed when former manager Rajib Malaker decided not to extend the lease and instead became the co-owner of Mela, a contemporary Indian restaurant in Old Town.
The restaurant then appeared to be back in business by January 2023 and the owners were promoting discount deals on social media earlier this year before the closure.
