Vandals inflicted thousands of pounds worth of damage to play equipment in Swindon parks.
West Swindon Parish Council is calling for community support following a significant increase in vandalism to play areas across the parish.
During the past three months, more than £7,000 worth of damage has been caused to children's play equipment, which has led to damaged items being removed and caused distress for families who regularly use these community spaces.
Deputy clerk Hayley Bell said: "We are working closely with the police to identify those responsible.
"It’s deeply unfair that children are being deprived of safe play areas due to the actions of a few, and it’s unacceptable that the residents' council precept is being continually spent on repairs and replacements.
“If you have any information that could assist the police in stopping these acts of vandalism, please report it to Wiltshire Police immediately.”
West Swindon Parish Council is urging all residents in the area to remain vigilant and report any criminal damage or suspicious activity to the police.
It is hoped that by working together, the community can help to prevent further incidents and ensure that these facilities remain available for everyone to enjoy.
