A driver who turned up to their court case as a defendant has been arrested moments after leaving the court.
Officers from Wiltshire Police's road team say they arrested a driver in the Swindon town centre area on Monday morning (September 23) for drug driving.
The white Hyundai had been stopped not far from Swindon Magistrate's Court and its owner tested positive on a roadside drug wipe.
But on closer inspection, it turns out that the driver had just left the court after appearing as a defendant in a drug drive case.
The drug drive court case had been adjourned to another day, but concerns had been raised about the defendant's ability to drive shortly before he left.
According to Wiltshire Police, the driver is now being held in custody, and the force has issued a warning about what they call the 'fatal five' road offences.
These include drink driving, drug driving, driving without wearing a seatbelt, driving whilst using a phone and speeding.
