A bus company which has operated in Swindon, Wiltshire and around the South West, for nearly 50 years has appointed a new Operations Director.
Stagecoach West appointed George Sloan following his successful tenure managing the bus company’s operations in Oxford and holding management positions at Northampton, Carlisle, Fenstanton and Peterborough depots.
He began his career on the Graduate Scheme in 2018 where he attained a Level 3 Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence qualification with the Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport.
George will oversee around 450 vehicles and lead a team of over 750 members of staff, taking over the role from Stagecoach West Managing Director Chris Hanson.
Chris said: “George brings a wealth of experience and grounding in Stagecoach procedures alongside a passionate enthusiasm for developing the business and prioritising our staff and customers.
"I look forward to seeing the amazing things George will deliver in this strategic role.”
George added: “I’m delighted to be appointed as the Operations Director for Stagecoach West. It is a privilege to be leading an excellent team of people who are passionate about bus services in our region.
“I’m thoroughly looking forward to working with our partners, and key stakeholders to deliver further improvements to bus services in the communities in which we serve.”
