The splash park has closed for the year following its much anticipated recent reopening in Coate Water.
It and the golf courses will be shut and maintained for the winter per plans for the park to be open every day from the late May bank holiday to the end of September each year.
The £475,000 revamped splash park opened on August 15 this year and hardy families were not deterred by constant drizzle to visit on the inaugural day.
A council spokesperson said: “We were pleased to see thousands of people enjoy the facilities throughout the summer, even when the weather wasn’t the best.”
The council had hoped to open the play area in time for the summer holidays, but the construction was delayed by getting specialised soft flooring from Spain through customs.
The splash park features a sloped design so wheelchair users can access the paddling pool as well as rumble strips, handrails and interactive elements located outside the wet zones.
Two golf courses in Coate Water - a crazy golf and 18-hole pitch and putt course - reopened on July 25 for the first time since the pandemic.
The openings are part of the council's long-term plan for Coate Water, which includes the building of a cafe and the already-completed play area.
