An intoxicated man who violently attacked a stranger in an unprovoked attack has been spared jail.
Jordan Rawlings, 27, of no fixed abode in Bath, pleaded guilty to assault and vehicle interference at Swindon Magistrates Court on October 18.
On Thursday, October 17, the victim was driving near his home in Penhill when he was stopped by Rawlings, who was standing in the road completely naked.
He asked for a lift to Bath twice, but the victim declined on both occasions, and Rawlings suddenly punched through the window of the car, before opening the door and dragging him from his seat, kicking and punching him around four or five times.

Rawlings then tried to flee in the victim’s car, while leaving him on the ground, but fortunately, a police vehicle was patrolling the area and intercepted.
Despite Rawlings running from officers, he was found hiding in a garden and was arrested, before being remanded in custody.
At the time of the offence, he was on bail from Bristol Crown Court for a previous assault and had accumulated 14 convictions since 2015.
He was sentenced at Bristol Crown Court on October 24 and received a 12-month custodial sentence suspended for 18 months, with no separate penalty imposed for the attempted theft of the vehicle.
