A landslide and flooding were responsible for a “do not travel today” warning by GWR today in Wiltshire.
The line between Swindon and Bristol Parkway were covered by a landslide at Chipping Sodbury, where the rails were also submerged in water.
In an update this morning, Great Western Railway said not to try travelling on any route due to “severe flooding” with all trains cancelled through Swindon.
At the time of writing the line from London to Bristol has reopened, but with "disruption expected until the end of the day”.
GWR says an hourly train service will run between London Paddington and Bristol Temple Meads in both directions.
Other lines through Swindon are not reported to be disrupted anymore having been due to be resolved by 2pm.
Other images from GWR show trees covering the lines, although the location of these incidents are not known.
Affected Wiltshire routes were:
- Cancellations between Swindon and Cheltenham Spa via Gloucester expected until 12pm.
- Cancellations between London Paddington and Swansea via Bristol Parkway and Cardiff Central until end of day.
- Cancellations between London Paddington and Bristol Temple Meads via Swindon and Bath Spa until 12pm.

A spokesperson said: “Network Rail need to carry out examine the line to check for fallen trees, flooding and any damage that may have been caused. Until this is done, we are unable to run trains.
“We are unable to offer alternative transport at this time and cannot guarantee we will be able to get you to your destination. You are advised not to attempt to travel along this route.
They state that tickets for today will be accepted on Tuesday, November 26, including on peak services, or that refunds can be requested.
