Swindon thug jailed after assaulting and suffocating woman

Ryan Hobbs, 35, of Blandford Court, appeared before Swindon Crown Court on Friday, March 21 after pleading guilty to three assault occasioning actual bodily harm charges, two counts of intentional suffocation, one count of common assault against a male victim, two shoplifting charges and one count of theft from a person.

The court heard that during a seven month period between February 1, 2024 and September 30, 2024, Hobbs caused actual bodily harm to the female victim, later assaulting her on January 24 and February 14 of this year.

(Image: Wiltshire Police) He also intentionally suffocated the victim on January 23, the day before the assault, and February 14, on the same day as assaulting her, where he also stole her mobile phone.

Meanwhile, on January 23, Hobbs went into Morrisons and fled the supermarket with a £50 grocery haul which he failed to pay for.

In another incident, on January 29, he was charged with common assault in Swindon against another male, and he had stolen £35.96 worth of goods from The Range on Fleming Way.

The 35-year-old was jailed for a total of three years and three months and no separate penalty was issued for the theft of the mobile phone.
