In the Dock: Latest cases from Swindon Crown Court

Swindon: Faysal Geedi, of Lynne Way, Northolt, has been sentenced for possession with intent to supply heroin and crack cocaine after pleading guilty on April 11.

He pleaded not guilty to possession of criminal property, namely £300 in cash, and the count will remain on his file.

The court heard that Geedi was found to have Class A drugs in his possession on March 7 in Swindon with the intent to supply them to another person.

He was jailed for 28 months, must pay a surcharge of £228, and the drugs will be destroyed. 

Swindon: Michael Pretto, 53, of Salisbury Street, Swindon, has appeared in the dock charged with wounding or inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent against another man on June 20, 2021.

The case was set to go to trial, but Pretto changed his plea to guilty on November 20, 2024.

On Tuesday, July 1, the 53-year-old received a 12-month community order with 150 hours of unpaid work.

Pretto must pay a victim surcharge of £114 and prosecution costs of £300.

Swindon: Terry Bayes and Tyrrell Gresty, who are both aged 21, appeared before the court on Thursday, July 3 after admitting knocking a man unconscious in an altercation outside a pub and continuing to attack him while he lay motionless on the ground.

Terry Bayes (left) and Tyrrell Gresty (right) (Image: Newsquest) The court heard that the pair attacked the victim outside the Sir Daniel Arms pub in Fleet Street by each punching and kicking him while he was out with his mum, leaving him with a fractured skull, fractures to his face and a dislocated shoulder.

Bayes was jailed for three years and eight months, while Gresty was handed a 12-month prison term suspended for 18 months, along with a community order consisting of 20 rehabilitation activity days and 200 hours of unpaid work.

Swindon: Lee Hampton, of Hollingbourne in Kent, has been found guilty of seven counts of rape, four counts of assault by penetration, and two counts of administering a drug with intent by a jury at Swindon Crown Court.

The offences took place between January 2017 and October 2020 in Swindon and involved a woman in her 30s, whose identity is protected by law.

Hampton would drug his victim against her will, crushing sleeping tablets up and putting them inside cold and flu tablets, which she consumed.

The 50-year-old would then rape her while she was asleep.

Hampton went on to share videos and images of his offences with third parties.

He is due to be sentenced on October 2.

Swindon: Matthew McKechnie, 39, of no fixed abode, was charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent after attacking a man in his 60s and leaving him with serious injuries in the town centre on Wednesday, January 29.

Emergency services, including Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance, rushed to the broad-daylight incident and the victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries to his leg/ankle. 

McKechnie was located by police and arrested shortly after the attack.

On Wednesday, July 2, McKechnie was handed a total custodial period of 16 months, suspended for 24 months.

He must also complete up to 35 rehabilitation activity days with the probation service and pay a surcharge of £187.

Royal Wootton Bassett: Mark Cartner, 59, of Sprats Barn Crescent, Royal Wootton Bassett, has been handed a suspended sentence order after being charged with possession of a prohibited image of a child and making indecent photographs of children.

A total custodial period of 16 months has been suspended for 24 months and he will be on the sex offender's register for 10 years.
