A new boxing gym opening in Swindon hopes to build on the legacy of a much-loved business.
Alpha Boxing and Fitness closed its doors on Isis Trading Estate on August 28, 2025, after years of serving the town.
However, the bittersweet closure marked the start of an exciting new step, as nephew and uncle duo Kyle and Mark Neilson have taken the opportunity to open Fight City in its place.
Fight City opened in Havelock Street on Monday, September 1, and the owners say they hope to build on the legacy Alpha Boxing left behind, but in a "brand new facility where even bigger things await."

"He wanted to retire, but wanted to make sure the gym was left in good hands. We were in partnership with Alpha anyway and had been doing about 16 boxing shows around the country. We had always called the Swindon show 'Fight Town'.
"But the history of boxing in this town is so great and Swindon is growing so fast that we feel it's much bigger than a town now.
"That's how we landed on the name Fight City. This is the home of boxing in Swindon now."

"It's not just boxing. We have all levels of general fitness groups, too, and MMA classes. We cater to a bit of everything," added Kyle.
