"Irresponsible" drivers parking at the junction of two roads near a retail park are an accident waiting to happen, according to upset residents.
It has been claimed that there could be an accident if workers from nearby businesses continue to park their cars at Stratton Road and New Dawn Place, close to the back of Greenbridge Retail Park.
The cars "potentially obstruct emergency vehicles" and "create road hazards" according to Swindon Borough Councillor Matthew Vallender, representing Stratton St Margaret and South Marston Ward.
He has written a letter to the young people's charity Uplands Enterprise Trust and others, claiming that the parking at the junction of the two roads is a breach of the Highways Code and could prevent emergency vehicles.
These concerns have been raised to him by residents, and he has got in contacted Uplands to try and prevent the practice.
He has also asked SBC’s Highways team to put yellow lines on the roads.

He said: "Unfortunately, over the past few months, there have been numerous instances where cars have been parked very close to the junction between Stratton Road and New Dawn Place (sometimes on both sides of the road and on the pavement).
"This is not only a breach of the Highway Code, but it also potentially obstructs emergency vehicles entering New Dawn Place and creates road hazards /risks of collisions for residents trying to get in and out of the area.
"We would greatly appreciate it if you could remind employees and guests of this, and ask them to park more considerately in the local area.
"I have also submitted a request to the Swindon Borough Council Highways Team for double yellow lines on this junction to help prevent this issue in the future."

Marco Di Pinto, who is campaigning to represent Stratton St. Margaret, said: "These cars risk obstructing emergency access, and action was needed.
"I have hand-delivered a letter from councillor Matthew Vallender and I to nearby businesses whose staff have been parking irresponsibly, urging them to address the problem."
Swindon Borough Council said: "We've received Cllr Vallender's request to look at the issues raised around parking and will be reviewing the situation in due course."
A spokeswoman for Uplands Enterprise Trust said: "We immediately spoke to staff to ask that they always park considerately and respectfully, and implemented a parking plan for the charity vehicles.
"These are now parked at one of our other sites to free up space outside the building in order to ease the parking pressures for our staff.
"We have organised a meeting with all charity staff on Monday, September 8 to raise the point of not parking near the junction of Stratton Road and New Dawn Place due to the narrowing of the road and everyone’s safety, and will reiterate that they park considerately.
"We would be more than happy to display a notice at UET asking not just staff but visitors to park considerately in the local area, this will be actioned today."
