An initiative aimed at improving the wellbeing of care home residents in Swindon has won an NHS award.
The Senior Games, a partnership between Great Western Hospitals, Swindon Borough Council, HCRG, and Wiltshire & Swindon Sport (WASP), won a Giving Confidence Award at the NHS Personalised Care Awards.
A Great Western Hospital spokesperson said: "Huge congratulations to the teams behind the Senior Games who have won a Giving Confidence Award at the NHS Personalised Care Awards.
"This fantastic initiative - which is a partnership between Great Western Hospitals, Swindon Borough Council, HCRG and WASP (Wiltshire & Swindon Sport) - has been helping care home residents in Swindon, including those living with dementia, stay active, improve mobility and reduce the risk of slips and falls.

"Since its launch, 209 residents have enjoyed fun, tailored activities like foam javelin, dancing and tin-can bowling, all designed to boost confidence and wellbeing.
"It is estimated that for those that took part, their risk of a falling fell from 62.5% at the start of the games to 40% by the end.
"Well done to all the teams involved."
The initiative aims to keep care home residents active, improve their mobility, and reduce the risk of slips and falls.
