A popular shop in Swindon has been spotted bordered up.

Tesco Express, on The Parade in Swindon town centre, looks shut as of Boxing Day with a cardboard over its glass doors.

It is not clear whether the automatic door has been smashed-up, but the normally busy grocery shop looked empty on December 26.

The shop, which is located next to the long-abandoned old Debenhams building, is usually fairly busy.

The shelves remain stocked inside, with no sign of clearance or maintenance work taking place.

When you search the Tesco Express on Google, it says it is closed on Boxing Day and will open again tomorrow (Saturday, December 27), at 7am.

Underneath 'closed', it says '(Boxing Day) Holiday opening hours'.

The Adver have contacted both the Tesco press office and Wiltshire Police for more information.

A spokesperson for police said they had not reports from the store on its logs as of Boxing Day 2025.

It is understood that the Tesco Express store is closed due to holiday opening hours. All Tesco stores will follow their normal opening hours for the days after Boxing Day through to New Years Eve with some local variations in place.
