A historic swimming pool and leisure venue will reopen to the public this week, as a long-running restoration project hits a milestone.
The reopening of Swindon’s Health Hydro has been a long-awaited event, and will finally allow residents to make the most of upgrades including new changing rooms, a redesigned entrance hall, among other features.
The council has confirmed that from Monday, January 19, visitors will be welcomed back to the pool and gym, as well as take advantage of classes and free-use sessions.
In a statement shared on the council’s social media, a spokesperson said: “Tomorrow (Monday, 19 Jan) will see visitors welcomed back to the Grade II* listed building following the completion of the first phase of regeneration works.
“The Victorian-era facility has been closed while the first phase of major refurbishment was carried out.
“The restoration project has delivered a range of improvements, including new changing rooms, a redesigned entrance hall, gym and activity space, enhanced energy efficiency and new plant areas and equipment to support the building long-term.
“When open, residents will be able to use the gym and main pool with a number of classes or free-use sessions. You can find out more by visiting the Health Hydro website.”
