Swindon man banned from Tescos after abusing customers

Daniel Abrook, of Queens Drive in Swindon, was already under a community protection notice when he was charged with two breaches and one count of theft.

Appearing at Swindon Magistrate's Court on January 22, 2026, the 29-year-old admitted to all three charges after intimidating and abusing Tesco shoppers in Swindon.

He has been described by Wiltshire Police as a "significant perpetrator of antisocial behaviour in Swindon town centre."

Abrook's behaviour has now landed him with another two-year Criminal Behaviour Order, which will forbid him from entering four major Tesco stores in the town.

These are Tesco in Ocotal Wal, Swindon Orbital Shopping District, the Swindon Designer Outlet Village, and Abbeymeads Village Centre.

He has also been banned from all of their adjoining car parks, and from begging outside a retail premises or next to an ATM cash machine.

“Abrook’s persistent aggressive, intimidating and abusive behaviour in the town centre has caused repeated issues for both those who work in the town and travel in to shop," said Inspector David Tippetts, from Wiltshire Police's Swindon Central South team.

“No one should have to feel anxious simply for going to their place of work, as Abrook’s behaviour was causing, and this has led to formal action against him.

“I want to highlight that alongside this CBO for Abrook, we are continuing to work closely with partner agencies to provide tailored interventions for things like substance misuse.

“Rehabilitation of offenders and the safeguarding of vulnerable members of society is vital, but it must go hand in hand with maintaining public spaces that are safe and welcoming for everyone.”

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police added: "We have secured another Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) against a significant perpetrator of antisocial behaviour in Swindon town centre.

"Daniel Abrook, 29, of Queens Drive, Swindon, appeared in Swindon Magistrates’ Court on January 22 where he admitted two counts of breaching a community protection notice and one count of theft.

"He was made subject to a two-year CBO, which forbids him from attending the Tesco in Ocotal Way, Swindon Orbital Shopping District, the Outlet Village, and Abbeymeads Village Centre, and all their adjoining car parks."
