Residents have been fined thousands of pounds for dumping rubbish on Swindon’s streets.
Swindon Borough Council has been ramping up a crackdown on fly-tippers across the area in recent weeks, with multiple offenders fined.
In the latest update on this work issued by the council, it was revealed that a whopping 13 people had been caught fly-tipping in recent weeks.
They were slapped with Fixed Penalty Notices totalling £5,200, with a £400 fine the standard punishment for dumping waste in public.
As well as catching offenders, council crews also work to clean up the mess left by fly-tipping incidents in Swindon.

A council spokesperson said: “Each week our team investigate and clear up fly-tipping incidents.
“13 people have recently received Fixed Penalty Notices totalling £5,200 for dumping waste.
“Thank you to the residents who reported these incidents to us.”
The council is responsible for investigating reports of fly-tipping on public land and removing this rubbish.
Residents have been urged to report incidents of fly-tipping on public land by using the council’s online reporting tool.
If rubbish has been dumped on private land, it is usually the responsibility of the landowner to remove it.
