A new shop is set to open in a former major fashion chain unit in Swindon town centre.
In August 2025, The Adver reported that streetwear and shoe retailer, Footasylum, would be closing at 38 The Parade.
Now a large sign reading ‘RSPCA Home & Fashion' has appeared in the entrance, announcing the arrival of the charity to one of the town centre’s busiest streets.
The opening date of the new store is not yet known.
The RSPCA store in The Parade closed in December, having been operating at the premises since November 2022.
Then, in March this year, the charity shut its shop on Cricklade Road, announcing at the time that it would be relocating in the near future to a much larger store.
At the time of closure, a spokesperson for Footasylum said: “Following the natural conclusion of the store’s lease, Footasylum will be closing its Swindon store as it has outgrown the site and requires a larger location to merchandise its full range.
"We hope to return with a bigger and better store when a suitable unit becomes available.”
Signs were put up advertising discounts ahead of the closure, and the company said that the shop would be closing mid-October, once the lease on the unit had come to an end.
By Monday, October 13 2025, the building was completely empty, ‘the closing down’ banners were removed, and a gas bill was in place near the entrance.
As of May 4 2026, it appears the unit is set to adopt a new use.
