Firefighters have shared an update after a serious M4 crash brought three lanes of traffic to a halt, as all emergency services attended.
The crash, which took place just after 10am, saw a car smash into the central reservation of the M4 between Junction 17 for Chippenham and Junction 16 for Swindon.
Ambulance, police and fire services all rushed to the scene, after one casualty became trapped inside their vehicle.
All three lanes of the M4 eastbound were closed and traffic brought to a halt as fire responders dealt with the situation.
A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire Service has now confirm that one casualty had to be cut out of their car using specialist hydraulic cutting equipment.
They have now been placed in the care of the South Western Ambulance Service.
At the time of writing (Monday afternoon, May 11), two lanes of the M4 eastbound remain closed as workers attempt to recover the vehicle from the central reservation.
It's unclear at this time how long the eastbound motorway will remain blocked for.

A spokesperson for the Dorset and Wiltshire Fire Service said: "We were called to the M4 eastbound between J17 and J16 at 10.18am this morning (11 May) after a car was in collision with the central reservation.
"Two crews attended, from Chippenham and Corsham, and firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to free one casualty into the care of the ambulance service.
"Our stop was at 11.43am."
