From a dangerous paedophile locked up for life to drug dealers targeting vulnerable people, these are the criminals jailed during April in Swindon.
Trevor Fernandes
Trevor Fernandes, 41, formerly of Dixon Street, was jailed for 14 years back in 2022 after being found guilty of seven counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and nine counts of making indecent photographs of a child.
While serving this sentence, Fernandes was charged with an additional 67 offences involving over 15 victims.
The court heard that the 41-year-old targeted vulnerable teenage girls online from the basement of his brother's house in Swindon between 2015 and 2020.
During this time, he demanded one of his victims to engage in sexual activity with children in her care, one as young as 19 months old, and perform sexual acts with the family dog and its puppies.
Fernandes encouraged another one of the teenage girls to engage in sexual activity with her own stepfather and incited other victims to engage in sexual activity in front of very young children.
He also pressured them into sending nude photos and videos of themselves, encouraged them to self-harm and forced them to complete degrading punishments if they ignored his instructions, including licking toilet seats and drinking their own urine.
“I’m satisfied no time limit can be placed on your dangerousness”, Judge Townsend concluded.
Fernandes was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 13 years and eight months.
Jimmy Lowe
Jimmy Lowe, 30, pleaded guilty to two assault by beating charges, two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, dangerous driving, using threatening words or behaviour to cause distress and criminal damage on Friday, April 17 at Swindon Crown Court.
The court heard that the first set of offences took place on June 21, when an argument broke out between Lowe and his former partner about him having contact with his child.
The prosecution said Lowe threatened to "stab, shoot or kill her" and there was a scuffle involving his ex-girlfriend's sister's partner, who took a baseball bat to Lowe's car, which he was living in at the time.
Lowe drove away at speed in the dark, mounting a verge in an attempt to leave the scene and bumping into his former partner's vehicle, while an 18-month old child was sat in the car.
He then returned and deliberately struck the vehicle for a second time, causing £1,800 worth of damage, but fortunately the child had been taken out of the car.
The second set of offences took place between January 10 and 14 of this year after Lowe, who has 52 convictions for 109 offences, had moved on with a new partner.
On one occasion, he rammed her car keys into her leg three times, saying he knew she was sleeping with someone else and throwing a bottle at her head, which missed but smashed and cut her.

Four days later, Lowe visited her property and saw she had a friend round and accused her of cheating again.
The 30-year-old proceeded to smash her TV with a hammer, followed by the washing machine, and he grabbed her hair and dragged her to the ground, causing clumps of her hair to fall out.
Lowe called her a "cheating s**g", spat at her and motioned towards her as if to hit her with the hammer, but she moved out of the way.
In mitigation, the court was told that the offences last year had occurred when Lowe was turning to alcohol and drugs and struggling with his mental health.
Judge Taylor sentenced Lowe to a total custodial period of three years, along with a driving disqualification of four and a half years.
Shomari Kondwani
Shomari Kondwani, 36, of Ruskin Grove, Bristol, has been jailed for five and a half years for drug offences committed in Swindon.
Following the arrest of another man, his phone was downloaded and messaged was recovered and traced back to Kondwani, which included ‘U AINT GOING FAR WITHOUT PASSPORT’, ‘U WILL BE FOUND’, ‘CHECKING YOU ACTIVE’ AND ‘QUICK SPEED IT UP’.
Police sezied a box containing smoking equipment for cannabis, a set of scales with Class A remnants on them, 1.75 grams of cocaine, £4,825 in cash, a small amount of cannabis and a phone from his home address.
Messages were retrieved from the phone detailing Kondwani directing other dealers.
After pleading guilty to being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs and possession of cannabis, he also pleaded guilty to Modern Slavery – Section 1 Modern Slavery Act 2015 and possession of criminal property.
Mario Youde
Mario Youde, 41, of no fixed abode, was arrested in the Brunel Plaza on March 30 and found with multiple items of stolen clothing in his possession.
He targeted Primark, Sports Direct, Deichman and Co-op and he was ordered to pay back £154 in compensation.
Youde was jailed for 26 weeks and his Criminal Behaviour Order, which is in place for two years, will prohibit him from entering any Deichman stores during this time.
Kyle Taylor
On March 4 of this year, officers stopped a vehicle in which Taylor was the front passenger.
He was found to have in his possession a mobile phone linked to crack cocaine and heroin supply in Swindon, known as the ‘CJ’ drugs line, despite being on police bail having previously been arrested for similar offences.
Officers established that Taylor, who lived in London, would regularly travel to Swindon to facilitate the supply of Class A drugs, and would target addresses in the town centre which he could use to store drugs, putting others at risk.
Taylor, of Sydenham Road, Lewisham, London, was jailed for four years.
