No further action will be taken against a man charged with leaving a German Shepherd dog in a car boot without food or water on a hot day.
Shuja Amjid, 25, of Union Street, Kettering, Northamptonshire, previously denied not taking steps to ensure that the needs of an animal he was responsible for were met.
It was alleged that Amjid was looking after a German Shepherd dog called Bruno on July 9, 2025 and he kept Bruno in a hot car on Stirling Road, South Marston, directly in the sun in a small boot space without food or water.
As reported at the time, police were called to reports of a dog in distress inside a vehicle in Stirling Road, South Marston shortly before 8.30am on Wednesday, July 9.
The dog was seized and taken to kennels.
At an earlier hearing at Swindon Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, April 7, he pleaded not guilty to leaving Bruno in the hot car.

Appearing back before the court on Wednesday, May 13, the charge was dismissed.
Last summer, PC Paul Croft, Dog Legislation Officer, said: "Leaving a dog in a car on a day like today could be fatal.
"We have seized the dog and have taken it to the kennels where it will be cared for.
"The owner of the dog has been spoken to and will be invited in for an interview under Section 4 of the Animal Welfare Act 2006, which is causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.
"Over the next few days we will be having very hot weather. Please do not leave a dog inside a hot car.
"The temperature in the vehicle will be a lot hotter than it feels outside and can cause serious injury to the animal."
