A Chinese takeaway in Swindon has been handed the lowest possible food hygiene rating but the owner says he has made improvements, which include installing a working fire alarm.
Peking City Chinese takeaway at 5 Covingham Square was visited by Swindon Borough Council's food safety officers on March 30.
After inspecting the premises, they determined that urgent improvements are necessary overall and slapped the Chinese takeaway with a zero out of five food hygiene rating.

They found that major improvement was necessary for the hygienic food handling and management of food safety, while urgent improvements were required for the cleanliness and condition of the building and facilities.
Owner Ian Fang said the main problems were not having a working boiler or a working fire alarm.
He explained: "We have two boilers and one of them was not working. I asked someone to come to fix it, but it wasn't working at the time. Some of the equipment was old so we have replaced it all and we've painted the walls.
"We didn’t know we had to fix the fire alarm, so we have put a fire alarm in and put a fire exit there with emergency lighting.
"We've changed everything now. They have asked us to apply for them to come back to get another rating.
"We have fixed things so we're sure we can do better next time."
The Covingham takeaway previously held a hygiene rating of three out of five, meaning the standards were 'generally satisfactory.'
