A school near Swindon has expanded into senior education with the opening of a new education facility.
St Hugh’s School in Faringdon marked the official launch of The Hayes Centre, its new Senior School Hub, at a special launch event held earlier this week.
This represents a major milestone in the school’s development, as the new senior school will welcome its first Year 9 cohort in September 2026, offering pupils what was described as “an ambitious, forward-thinking academic environment that builds on the school’s long-standing reputation for excellence".
The opening event brought together current and prospective families, governors, and key staff, who heard addresses from Headmaster David Griffiths, Assistant Head of Seniors Sally Ewins, and pioneer year group members Samuel and Tilly, before going on a guided tour.
Charlie Maynard MP, Emilie Darwin, CEO of the Independent Association of Prep Schools (IAPS), and the headmaster formally opened the building.
Mr Griffiths said: “The Hayes Centre represents a bold and exciting step forward for St Hugh’s. “We are proud to be extending our provision into senior education, creating a space where pupils can thrive academically and personally as they prepare for the next stages of their lives.
“We look forward to welcoming our first Year 9 pupils in September and to celebrating this important moment with our community.”
