Former Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson is to give a major speech on his near 40-year career.

The 66-year-old Chipping Norton farmer has worked in the media for most of his career.

Having started out in local newspapers as a reporter in northern England, Mr Clarkson went on to become one of the biggest names in the media.

He presented the BBC motoring show Top Gear, where alongside Richard Hammond and James May it became one of the most watched shows in the world.

This came to an end in 2015, but the trio found themselves on the streaming platform Amazon Prime on the Grand Tour.

Mr Clarkson also presents Clarkson's Farm from his 1,000-acre Oxfordshire Cotswolds estate.

But now he is set to give a major speech on the changing face of media when he appears as a speaker at this year's Royal Television Society.

Alongside his daughter Emily, the pair will explore how the media landscape is evolving and compare their experiences of building audiences through traditional broadcasting versus the rise of social media.

Emily is a prominent social media figure and journalist, often found discussing societal issues.

Jane Turton, chair of the board of trustees at the Royal Television Society, said: “The convention committee is busy working to secure a line-up of internationally renowned speakers who will bring all of their unparalleled expertise and insight to our event this year.

"Our latest speaker announcements are fabulous and will undoubtedly deliver. Expect to be stimulated and entertained and informed…”

Additional speakers joining the agenda-setting programme include: Ayoade Bamgboye, Comedian and star of SNL UK; Matt Brittin, new Director-General, BBC; Nikki Doucet, CEO, WSL Football; Alex Kay-Jelski, Director, BBC Sport; Gary Neville, former professional footballer, entrepreneur and business leader; and Ruth Phillips, Executive Producer.
