Swindon based Smiths News has secured two major national distribution contracts.

The company will distribute magazines across the UK for Frontline and Seymour from April 2030.

Frontline is the UK’s largest magazine distributor, while Seymour is the country’s largest independent magazine distributor.

The new contracts will take full effect in April 2030 and extend Smiths News’ existing agreements through to April 2037.

Jonathan Bunting, chief executive officer of Smiths News, said: "We are delighted to announce our new contracts with both Frontline and Seymour, further reinforcing our long-term partnership with publishers and distributors, which ultimately maintains great service for millions of consumers across the UK.

"The new contracts continue to reinforce the importance of the printed magazine market which our business model has successfully evolved to support, building a sustainable, efficient and resilient route to market for the magazine category, while maintaining service continuity for publishers and retailers."

Smiths News will become the exclusive national wholesale distributor for Frontline and Seymour titles across the UK.

The company said the expanded territory coverage and contract extensions will deliver an estimated revenue uplift of around £105 million per year from April 2030.

Frontline and Seymour titles together account for more than 60 per cent of the UK magazine market.

The contracts build on earlier agreements Smiths News secured in June 2026 with News UK and Associated Newspapers.

Taking all four contract awards together, Smiths News has now successfully secured a substantial long-term volume base of the national newspapers and magazines market.

Smiths News said the expansion will require an expanded national footprint.

The company said that earlier guidance about implementation costs, transitional expenses, network expansion benefits, dividends, and financing arrangements remains unchanged from its announcement on 17 June 2026.

Further financial details are expected to be shared with investors when Smiths News releases its preliminary financial results on 4 November 2026.

Smiths News is the UK’s largest news wholesaler.
