A town centre restaurant has received a lower food hygiene rating after its latest inspection.
Earlier this year, Indian restaurant Chennai Dosa on Victoria Road received a three out of five rating – Generally Satisfactory – as that was the finding for the cleanliness of the premises and its management of food safety, though the hygienic food handling was deemed to be good.
Food hygiene experts revisited the premises on June 19, just over six months after their last look around, and changed the overall score to one out of five – Major Improvement Necessary.
How the business fared in each category has not yet been disclosed.
When the Adver reviewed the site near Regent Circus in 2018, we described our meals as “delicious” and “absolutely perfect”, with generous agreeably-priced portions and “helpful, friendly” staff.
Its speciality is South Indian cuisine, and as the name suggests, there is a great emphasis on the dosa, the pancake with a variety of combinations of ingredients and fillings.
The restaurant is part of a small chain with branches mostly across the south of England.
