TG Jones is set to close next week after 50 years in Swindon town centre, with shelves left bare following a major closing down sale.
The stationery and bookshop chain, formerly known as WH Smith, has been offering discounts of between 50 and 70 per cent off across all leftover stock.
Signs inside and outside the shop advertise that 'Everything Must Go' before it closes.
The sale has proved popular with shoppers, leaving many shelves and several sections of the shop completely empty where stock has been cleared.
But customers visiting before the shop officially closes can still expect to find a range of products, including books, stationery, birthday cards, children's toys and board games.
All books are currently half price and some items only cost a pound or two.
The closure of the store, and the post office inside, was announced in July 2026 and the sale started soon after.

TG Jones, owned by Modella, took over the WHSmith franchise, which has its HQ in Swindon, in June 2025.
Less than 12 months after the sale, Modella announced a major restructuring plan due to what it described as “challenging retail conditions” which left it on the brink of insolvency with an £8 million cash shortfall.
After the courts approved this plan, around 150 of the retail chain’s 450 UK shops will close, 120 landlords will receive no rent for three years on the units that remain trading, and rent will be cut on hundreds of other shops by between 15 and 75 per cent.
The first 19 of the high street shops will start closing this month, September 2026, including stores in Devon, Sommerset and Cornwall.
TG Jones also owns the freehold for WH Smith’s Greenbridge headquarters, which have planning permission to be demolished so that a new housing estate can be built.
The final day of trading for Swindon’s TG Jones store, which has been serving shoppers since 1973 and previously housed the Morse’s department store, is Tuesday, September 15.
Until then is open as normal from 9am to 5.30pm on weekdays and Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday.
