Ian Holloway believes the unrest at Swindon Town’s start to the season is a hangover from the way that last term ended.
Swindon have had an up-and-down start to the season, with three wins from three at home, but no goals and just one point from four away games.
After a week in which Town won twice at home, they have lost four consecutive games across all competitions, albeit two were in the Jersey Mike’s Trophy, and that has created some frustration among the fanbase, especially with two damaging losses to Oldham Athletic and York City.
This has been a continuation of the end of last season, where Swindon’s form dropped away alarmingly at the end, with just one win from seven to end the season to miss out on the playoffs having been in the top seven for nearly the entire campaign.
In 2026, Swindon have the 12th-most points in League Two, and the fourth-fewest of any team that has been in the division the whole time since the start of April.

Following defeat to Newport County on Tuesday, Holloway said that a lot of the disquiet was down to the way that last year ended.
He said: “Someone hasn't just run over your nan's favourite cat; we didn't quite play how we wanted to.
“They played well. We didn't quite do that, and I fully understand that. So, always be bright and breezy about what you want to do next, and make sure you understand when we change to what we need to change.
“All of those things are very difficult at this minute. It's no excuse; that's the way it is. So, people are shouting, ‘Sort it out.’ That's what I intend to do. That was a training session.
“What we have got to do is learn how to get over some ups and downs. We had some ups, had some brilliant ups at home here, and now it's going the other way. So this group's got to learn.
“I want to try and get promoted, and at the minute we've got to start winning some games.
“I don't think any of us are [dealing with the downs as well as I like], apart from me; I have been there, seen it, done it.
“This is a hangover from last year as well, without a shadow of a doubt.
“What type of person are you: glass half full or glass half empty? I'm just happy to have a glass, and whatever happens, we'll keep going, because that's what I've learned in my lifetime. When do we give up? Ask Winston Churchill.”
Swindon face Accrington Stanley at the Nigel Eady County Ground, looking to bring an end to the losing run and keep the perfect home league record intact.
Holloway said that he believed it might already be must-win with the growing frustration around the stands.
He said: “I get this almighty feeling I'm going to have to win on Saturday. Otherwise, people will start losing belief because of the end of last year.”
